Let the Battles Begin! Drugstore Care Vs. Salon Care

tagged hair in spotlight

thumb

Ahhhh... the long fought battle between saving your wallet or saving your hair. A few years ago we figured out the answer in the phrase "You get what you pay for." However, beauty lines have now started charging more for their pretty bottles. So you can have a beautiful display in your shower. Now although design aesthetic is very pleasing, obviously it is not our main goal as hair conscious men and women. There are many brands out there that boast about their "Natural Herbs" and "Alo" and "Nourishing Oils." Fantastic! But! What they don't tell you is How Much each of those delights is contained in that flashy bottle. The answer is simple Ladies and Gentlemen... If your hair stylist uses it, it's good stuff. What good is it to spent a little bit of money on a lot of product that will dry out or build product up on the hair shaft. Rather than Spend a little more money on a great product that you don't have to use very much of to achieve beautiful looking locks. We hope this helps!

Blow Dry Tips

tagged hair in spotlight

thumb

Tired of Blast Drying your hair and then having to hot iron it into shape? Well here are a few tricks to condense your morning routine... When wanting a full round brush blow out, start off by applying a great root lifting serum (such as Aveda's Volumizing Tonic) as well as a heat protectant (Bumble&Bumble's Blow Dry Cream is AWESOME!!). Blast dry your hair %70 with the roots going the opposite direction they naturally lay. So you can either hold your head upside down or just flip your hair to the opposite side of your head in order to "set" your roots into a fuller lifted look. When Hair is %70 dry; blow dry with a round brush for the last %30. Take small sections of your hair and begin with the brush and blow dryer positioned at the root. Twist the brush as you go down the shaft of the hair and as you curl under the ends. Always keep the blow dryer 1-2 inches from your hair shaft to prevent any sort of heat damage. Finish off with a great shine spray or just a simple solid hairspray. More Tips to come!!!

A lot of women and men are asking, "Why would I go through the hassle of having a stylist color my hair when I can just do it myself at home?" Well here is why...

A professional stylist has a trained eye to see what tone of color will compliment your skin, eye color, style, etc.

A professional can add some great dimension and diversity that flat box color cannot

A professional stylist can teach you ways to style your hair as well as give you a heads up on some upcoming trends!!

Now who would want a Box???!

Make Up: Eye Lids

tagged Make and up in spotlight

So to finish of our series on eyes and make up application we have one LAST blog. Thank you everyone for being so patient with us!But there's just too much good information to cram it all into one little blog!! We like to keep everyone fully informed on how beautiful they are. So here goes... For hooded eye lids - Apply a soft solid color (no shimmer) all over the lid (lash line to brow line). Then make a "V" Shape with an angle brush with a few tones darker than your overall shadow color at the outer corners of your eyes. Not too dark Though!!Finish off with juuuust enough eyeliner to define your eye shape and some great lengthening mascara! For Deep Set Eyes - Apply an iridescent shadow on the upper eye lid (just enough shimmer but nothing crazy!) and a mid toned shadow on the lower lid. The mid tone will only go across the lid from the pupil out. Then apply the darkest tone to the outer corner of the eye. Finish off with thin liner that widens at the outer corners. Smudge with a liner brush, and don't forget the oh-so-important mascara!! Standard Eyes - Really have it easy! Try a lot of different combos and colors! Thank you again all of our cottonwood fans for keeping up with all of our blogs, we appreciate all of you so very much!
